Lucy Belle Smith Kelly, age 93, of the Deep River Community in Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Lee County, NC on July 23, 1923 to the late Marvin Edgar Smith and Otis Womble Smith.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence S. Kelly; grandson Patrick Kelly; siblings Gilbert Smith, Jack Smith, Ella Lee Turner, Esther Cook, Christine Jackson and Agnes Holder.  Lucy Belle was a longtime member of Flat Springs Baptist Church serving as Sunday School teacher and member of the WMU Circle groups.  She was a loving, Christian homemaker who loved to fish.   

She is survived by sons Ernest Clifford Kelly and wife Eleonore, Lewis David Kelly and wife Linda all of Deep River; daughter Emma K. Cotten and husband Steve of the Northview community, Sanford; sister Ollie Cox of Sanford; grandchildren Susan Brown, Mike Kelly, Annette Fawcett, Lisa Leslie, Larry Kelly, Lou Ann Griffin, Ken Cotten, Kelly Cotten Garner; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service in the Atrium of Flat Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and at other times at the home of Lewis and Linda Kelly, with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
