John "Moe" Gordon Harrington

John “Moe” Gordon Harrington, age 90, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Lee County, NC on October 20, 1927 to the late Gordon Vernon Harrington, Sr. and Betty Stone Harrington.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Jessie Ruth Cooke Harrington; daughter Angela Harrington Lawson; sister Joyce Baxley and brother Gordon Vernon Harrington Jr.  He was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and served our country in the United States Navy for 4 years and 2 years in the United States Army. His civilian work included Cooke’s Poultry, The Flower Gallery and others. 

He is survived by his son Anthony Harrington of Sanford; grandsons Parker and Hunter Harrington of Sanford; brothers Jimmy, Wayne, Glenn (Wanda), Larry, Bobby (Jackie) and sisters Louise Harrington and Bonnie Sutton; an assortment of nieces and nephews and one special niece, Terri Ammons Pope, who lovingly cared for him during his declining health.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Vic and Terri Pope, Luck Lane, Sanford, NC.  The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
