John Aaron Johnson

John Aaron Johnson, age 96, of Sanford, NC, died September 7th, 2019 at Westfield Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Charleston, SC on August 15, 1923 to the late Milton Butler Johnson and Jessie Elizabeth Jones Johnson.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Mildred Elizabeth Johnson Oldham, Hazel Burchalski, Milton B. Johnson, Robert L. Johnson and Carroll L. Johnson and a grandson, Robert Anthony Johnson, Jr.

John served our country in the United States Army as an Army Combat Medic with the 9th Infantry Medical Detachment during WWII through England, France, Belgium and Germany earning medals including two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, National Defense Service, Army Commendation Service and World War II Overseas Occupation.  He worked 52 years for Lee Brick and Tile as a welder and heavy equipment operator.   

He is survived by two sons, John Paul Johnson and wife Linda and Robert Anthony Johnson all of Sanford; Grandchildren Jason Johnson and wife Shannon of Clayton, Kelly Montgomery and husband David of Sanford,  Julie Johnson Poindexter and husband Keith of Carthage, Angie Johnson Raley of Sanford, Emily Johnson Vauthier and husband Casey of Sanford; 5 nieces, 3 nephews and 15  great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10th from 12:00 to 2:00.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the Chapel with the Eldest son presiding.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery with military honors.
