John Stephenson, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Central Carolina Hospital with his family by his bedside.

He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on June 09, 1935, to the late Emile and Zona Weaver Slick.  John proudly served his country in the US Army.  He was retired from Weyerhaeuser and was a long-time member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Sarah Stephenson of the home; a son, Brett Stephenson of Raleigh; three daughters, Tina Stephenson and husband, Tom Walk of High Point, Ann Cotten and husband, Chuck of New Hill and Sandy Bruton and husband, Kevin of Sanford; one brother, Bryan Slick and wife, Pat of Marshville; sister, Barbara Royer and husband, Jim of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Matt Cotten, Josh Cheeseman, Garrett Cotten, Solomon Bruton and John (JT) Stephenson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the sanctuary at Jonesboro United Methodist Church.  The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Hunter Preston officiating.
