John Richard Gaddy

John Richard Gaddy, age 67, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at his family homeplace.

He was born in Lee County, NC on January 19, 1952 to the late Walter Frank Gaddy and Litha Bell Tillman Gaddy.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Connor Thomas and brother Tommy Gaddy.  John worked for both CP&L and Line Construction as an overhead foreman and loved NASCAR.  He enjoyed playing billiards and cards and once made it into the World Poker Tour.  John also loved animals and had a goat farm and donkeys named Amos and Dixie.

He is survived by his ex-wife and caregiver Peggy McDuffie Colvin; sons Jeremy Ross Gaddy of Sanford, Christopher Thomas Gaddy (Kassy) of Advance, NC; brother Walter Frank Gaddy Jr., of Sanford; sister Bonita Gaddy Bost of Greenville, SC; grandchildren Bobby Dean Crouch, Jordan Ryan Gaddy, Caiden Tristan Gaddy and special cousins Robin Ingold, Dottie Spruill and Billy Tillman.

A memorial service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Vernon Riggins officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM) also at the church and at other times at the family homeplace.  Burial will follow at a later date.
