Joanne Chappell Jessup Blue, age 84, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, August 12, 2019 at Parkview Retirement Center.
She was born in Moore County, NC on October 13, 1934 to the late Malcolm Monroe Chappell and Rachel Carson Bell Chappell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Donald Ray Jessup and James Francis Blue. Joanne was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and trained golden retrievers in agility and obedience skills and earned several titles in dog shows across the country with her beloved Sam, Lea, Max and Cara. She also owned and operated a daycare in Sanford for over 35 years and provided the first loving teaching experience for hundreds of Sanford children.
She is survived by her children Mitch Jessup and wife Susan of Holly Springs, NC, Susan Britton and husband Chris of Sanford, Donna Stewart and husband Butch of Sanford, Danny Jessup and wife Karla of San Jose, CA; sister-in-law Barbara Jessup Ceria and husband Paul of Fayetteville; grandchildren Jennifer Ciliberto and husband Nathan, Joe Jessup and wife Crystal, Daniel Jessup, Angela Jessup, Keri Peele Christianson and husband Paul, Meridith Peele Thompson and husband Ryan, Jon Britton and wife Erin, Ken Britton and wife Erin, Alli Roberts and Jamie Roberts Gaskins and husband Will; great-grandchildren Hali, Ben, Lily, Rachel, Les, Joanna, Arthur, Ella, Cam, Nate, Maggie, Grace, Hannah, Connor and Kenny.
Joanne’s funeral service will be Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Jonesboro Heights Baptist church with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary of the church. A private burial will follow at a later time.
