Jeanette "Mia" (Layton) Brantley

Jeanette Layton Brantley, age 91, of Sanford, passed away at her home on Monday, August 19, 2019. 

She was born in Richmond County on May 20, 1928 to the late Luther Lee Layton and Ora Morris Layton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Newton Brantley; grandchild Amy Brafford and brothers Frank, Erie, Jack, Morris and Bill Layton.  Jeanette – also called “Mia” - was proud to be both the oldest active member and oldest mother at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.  Prior to retiring, she worked for many years at both Benhaven School and Kmart.  She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.

She is survived by sons Bill Brantley and Robert Layton Brantley both of Sanford; daughter Gail Brafford and husband Boyd of Sanford; grandchildren Gwen Williams and Brittany Calhoun and two great-grandchildren Gabby Williams and Elise Williams and one great-great-grandchild Adelynn Calhoun.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Dudley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  After the services, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall.
