Janice Ann (Mason) Herring

Janice Ann Mason Herring, age 74, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Jacksonville, NC on December 9, 1944 to the late Claude Clinton Mason and Leecy Baxter Holder Gilmore.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Luther William Herring; daughter Donna Lynn Herring; grandson Matthew Justin Sharpe and all her brothers; Fletcher, Ross, Britton, Grady and Willis Mason. Janice was a very active member of Sanford Church of God where she sang in the church choir.  She was the owner and operator of Moncure Beauty Shop and continued to do ladies hair even after her retirement.  Janice loved traveling either by flying or cruising to exotic places.  Most importantly, she had a huge part in helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved helping to raise her family.

She is survived by son Tim Herring and wife Stephanie of Ramseur; daughter Julie Herring Sharpe of Sanford; sisters Margie Kelley and husband Mike of Sanford, Catherine Iannarone of Tennessee; grandchildren Jessica Crowder and husband Michael of Sanford, Jordan Herring and fiancé Paige Morris of Sanford, Taylor Rigney and husband Jeremiah of Danville, VA, Hannah Herring of Ramseur; great-grandchildren Owen and Tanner Crowder, Lucas, Sydney and Blake Herring and one on-the-way.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sanford Church of God and at other times at Janice’s home.  The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor David Kimbrell and Pastor Josh Morales officiating.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
