James "Jimmy" Daniel Gunter

James Daniel Gunter “Jimmy”, age 80, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019.

He was born in Durham County on September 22, 1938 to the late Curtis Glenn Gunter and Katherine Ann Kelly Gunter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother C.G. Gunter.  Jimmy was raised in Chatham County and considered himself a “Chatham Rabbit”.  He was a self-employed building contractor for over 50 years and was thankful he was able to help his children build their forever homes.  Jimmy was a loving, devoted husband to his sweetheart, Edith.  He honored his commitment made to her over 60 years ago – providing tender, loving care to her up until his death.

In addition to his wife Edith, he is survived by son Danny Gunter and wife Dawn of Sanford; daughters Debbie Gunter Causey and fiancé Tony Oldham of Carbonton and Vicky Gunter Daniels and husband Nelson of Sanford; sister Sylvia Jean Crutchfield and husband Hal of Burlington; grandchildren Tonya Carver, Travis Causey, D.J. Gunter, Katie Daniels Baker, Morgan Gunter Whitaker and Cameron Daniels; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Funeral service and burial will be private.
