Helen (Shaw) Murchison Cole

Helen Shaw Murchison Cole, age 82, of Sanford, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

She was born in Robinson County, NC on May 28, 1936 to the late Leonard Durwood Shaw and Annie Belle Spivey Shaw.  Farming life is where Helen learned to cook amazing meals.  She could also string tobacco faster than anyone the family had ever seen.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands Robert Edward Murchison and John T. Cole; brothers Harold, Clarence, Jerry, and James Shaw; sisters Joyce Stone and Mary Belle Shaw and step-son Wayne Murchison.

Helen worked 22 years for Eaton Corporation then worked as a marketing director for both Victoria Manor and Quality Home Care & Hospice.  She was a past-member of Sanford Business & Professional Women and was an active member of Tramway Baptist Church.

She is survived by son Robert “Eddie” Murchison Jr. and wife Annette of Sanford; daughter Mary Ann Batchelor and husband Donnie of Sanford; step-son Dale Murchison and wife Linda of Sanford; brother Donnie Shaw of Carthage; sisters Connie Barber and husband Ray of Pinehurst, Vickie Britt of Vass, Barbara Ann Bedore and husband Jim of Sanford; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Tramway Baptist Church.  The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM also at Tramway Baptist Church with Dr. John Allen and Travis Corley officiating.  Burial will follow at White Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery.
