Geraldine "Gerri" Elizabeth (Rosser) Morris

Geraldine Elizabeth (Gerri) Rosser Morris of Sanford, NC died peacefully at the age of 96 at Parkview Retirement Village on Thursday, December 27, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph Lexie and Nina Nordon Rosser.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of 72 years, John Edgar Morris and her 2 sisters, Magaline Thomas Hunter of Broadway and Virginia Barnhill of Rocky Mount.  She is survived by one brother, Joseph Milton Rosser (wife Betty) of Chickamauga, GA and one son, Robert E. Morris (wife Tommye) of Tucker, GA.  She is also survived by two granddaughters, Rebekah Morris of Winston-Salem and Robin Morris of Decatur, GA and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Boone Trail High School and the Certified Dental Assisting Program at UNC Dental School.  She retired from Civil Service as a dental assistant having worked at Fort Bragg, NC and VA Hospital in Columbia, SC.  She returned to school when she was in her 50s and earned a BS degree in Health Education from the University of South Carolina in 1976.

She was one of the founders of the Dental Assisting Program at Midland Tech in Columbia, SC and served for 9 years as an Instructor and Department Head.  Upon returning to Sanford she served as a substitute teacher at Benhaven School and Western Harnett High School.

The funeral will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating.  The family will receive visitors at the church an hour before the service.  Following the service, burial will be at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Swann Station Baptist Church, 7592 US Hwy 87 South, Sanford, NC 27332.  The family wants to thank the staff at Parkview Retirement Village and Community Home Care & Hospice for the love and care they gave to Gerri the last years of her life.
