It is with love and light in our hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful soul, Gaynelle Gunter Ridenhour, wife of Ernest Michael Ridenhour. Gaynelle passed away peacefully home on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
Gaynelle and Mike shared a 52-year marriage and the birth of two daughters, Deborah and Heather. Gaynelle is survived by her husband Mike and daughter, Deborah. Heather, along with Gaynelle’s parents, John and Gladys Gunter, as well as, her brother Eugene were already present in heaven and able to greet her upon her arrival.
As a Christian woman, she loved to attend church on Sundays. Gaynelle was a member of Lemon Springs Baptist Church for 33 years. There was a special place in her heart for the members of the congregation. Pastor Andy Foley always made her smile. She was grateful for the love and support given to her through the years and especially over the last several months.
Gaynelle is also survived by her son-in-law, Ron Scarboro, husband of Deborah Ridenhour Scarboro and their children Olivia Sinclair Scarboro and Kellen Michael Scarboro. Gaynelle is also survived by Heather’s children, Carlee Michelle and Christopher Lane.
As her daughter, writing this message, I feel compelled to share with everyone my feelings about my mother. The last couple of years, mom struggled with her health. During that time, I witnessed a strength, determination and feistiness within her that made me very proud to be her daughter. She was enlightening me until the very end.
During this very sad and difficult time, daddy and I have chosen to spend time together at my home in Raleigh. We would feel blessed if you would like to join us for a ceremony celebrating my mom, Gaynelle Ridenhour. There will be a wake preceding the service at Lemon Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Andy Foley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
My father and I would like to extend our appreciation for the love and support we have received during this emotional journey.
