Franklin “Frankie” Wayne Sharpe, 72, of Sanford, NC died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Frankie was born in Lee County, on May 10, 1945, to the late Ben Joe Sharpe and Mary Mae Gilmore Sharpe.  He was a self-employed truck owner and operator for several years.

He is survived by his wife Mary Sue Douglas Sharpe of the home; two sons, Cameron Sharpe and Carrie of Sanford and Kelvin Sharpe and Kim of Sanford; two brothers Van Sharpe and Linda and Benny Sharpe and Polly both of Sanford; seven sisters, Frances Kelly and Donald of Sanford, Patricia Stone and Jimmy of Sanford, Jenny Kennedy of Sanford, Jackie Tart and Larry of Sanford, Becky Kelly of Broadway, Donna Bryant of Sanford, and Deanna Valle of Sanford; three grandchildren, Erik Sharpe and Allie of Whitsett, Zoe Sharpe and Ava Sharpe both of Sanford; two great-grandchildren, Kieran Sharpe and Ainsley Sharpe both of Whitsett, NC.

The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, from 6-8PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 10^th, 2PM at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon and Rev. Charles Goins presiding.  Burial will follow in the Cameron Grove Cemetery.
