Frances Elizabeth (Layne) Foushee

Frances Elizabeth Layne Foushee, age 92, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Lee County on December 11, 1925 to the late James Oscar Layne and Vera Banner Layne.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pressly Foushee; her son, Dennis Foushee; a sister, Ada L. Finley and her brother, John E. Layne.  Frances was a lifelong member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years as a sales associate at Home Bazaar. She also volunteered her time and talents by serving with the Ladies Auxiliary of Tramway Rural Fire Department, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years having served as the North Carolina Department President and by serving as Chairman of the Lee County Nursing Home Board. 

Frances is survived by her daughter, Diane Foushee Davis and husband, Larry of Sanford; three sisters, Ruth Layne Conder, Mozelle Layne Coggins, Peggy Layne McGee; three brothers, Jerry Layne, James O. Layne, Jr., Wade Layne; one grandchild, Denise D. Whitaker and husband, Cliff; two great-grandchildren, Larry C. Whitaker and wife, Stephanie, Elizabeth W. Collins and husband, Samuel and by three great-great-grandchildren, Ansleigh Whitaker, Jase Whitaker and Pressly Collins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Buffalo Presbyterian Church with Rev. George Walton and Rev. John Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will gather following the burial in the fellowship hall at the church.
