Everett Charles “Chuck” Smart, age 77, of Siler City, NC, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Wolcott, NY on April 26, 1940 to the late Merle Edwin Smart and Doris May Parson Smart.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann Smart and sister Sandy La Valley.  Mr. Smart served our country in the United States Navy, stationed on board the USS Forrestal.  He worked many years for Selig Manufacturing in Siler City while owning and operating Smart’s Upholstery.  He was a member of Meroney United Methodist Church and worked in evangelism for Walk with Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Ida Hart Smart; sons Charlie Smart and wife Dena of Sanford, Troy Smart of Bear Creek; step-sons Kenneth Allison and wife Jackie of Gibsonville, Todd Allison and wife Lisa of Siler City; step-daughter Christy Woody and husband Steve of Siler City; brother Duane Smart and wife Aida of Puerto Rico; sister Dolores Smart of Wisconsin; grandchildren Shena, Trevor, Leandra, Tricia, Dylan, Kara, Nick, Brittany, Kayla, Colby, Jared, Adam, Logan; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Christy and Steve Woody, 538 D Hart Road, Siler City, NC.  The funeral service will be Friday, August 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Meroney United Methodist Church with Pastors Jim Whitaker, Billy Norris and Ron Cleary officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
