Everett Alton Laton, Sr. age 89, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at UNC Hospital.

He was born in Albemarle, NC on January 18, 1928 to the late Henry Wade Laton, Sr. and Florence Burris Laton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.  Alton served his country in the Air Force and later retired as a branch manager for Lance, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Ann S. Laton of the home; one son, Al Laton, Jr and his wife, Anita of St. Augustine, FL; two daughters, Lorrie L. Yarborough and her husband, Mitch of Sanford and Collis L. Floyd of Charlotte; one brother, Kenneth Bain Laton and his wife, Bonnie of Norwood, NC; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM in McDowell Hall at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM. with Dr. Calvin Sayles and Rev. Gilbert McDowell officiating.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
