Eutophia Maxine “Tophia” Medlin, age 96, of the Deep River Community, Sanford, NC, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Keller’s Oakhaven Retirement Center.

She was born in Lee County, NC on October 20, 1920 to the late Otha Herbert Medlin and Elsie Mae Buchanan Medlin.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Joe Romas Medlin and sister Vivian Fowler.  Tophia was member of Flat Springs Baptist Church and served in many capacities including WMU Director and Sunday School teacher.  She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School Class of 1939 and graduated from Sanford Business College.  She was a buyer for Jones Department Stores and Macks Stores on Steele Street in Sanford.

Tophia is survived by a brother Neil Medlin and wife Ruby of the Deep River Community.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Flat Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the graveside service and at other times at the home of Neil and Ruby.
