Eric Wesley Berndt

Eric Wesley Berndt, age 60, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, February 21, 2019, at his home.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana on January 31, 1959 to the late Arthur Henry Berndt Jr. and Louise Caviness Berndt.  Eric being from Indiana was a huge Fighting Irish fan for The University of Notre Dame and loved the game of golf.  He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir and was very involved in their mission programs.  Eric worked for over 30 years for Carolina Wholesale Florist.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Smith Berndt; son Daniel Berndt and wife Mechelle of Holly Springs; daughter Alexandra Dowdy and husband Mitchell of Bear Creek; brother Arthur Henry Berndt III of Sanford; sisters Karin Duggan of Sanford, Eric’s twin sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Tomlinson and husband Kenneth of Sanford; grandson Cole Thomas Dowdy; and nephew Sean Duggan of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.  Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 24th at 2:00 PM at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Martin and Associate Pastor Tim Burriss officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
