Dr. William Don Roscoe Sr.

Dr. William Don Roscoe Sr., age 90, of Sanford, NC, died peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Parkview Retirement Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Alamance County, NC on December 27, 1927 to the late William Smith Roscoe and Eula Clapp Roscoe.  Dr. Roscoe grew up in Gibsonville and graduated from Brevard Junior College, Elon College and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.  He served our country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII before starting his practice, Roscoe Optometric Clinic, in Sanford.  He was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church and past member of the American Optometric Association, the N.C. Optometric Association, the Lee County Antique Car Club and the Kiwanis Club. He also served as a Trustee of Central Carolina Community college. His passions were traveling, beach vacations with the family and collecting and working on antique cars.

Dr. Roscoe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris Barker Roscoe; sons Keith Roscoe and wife Catina of Greensboro, Dr. Douglas Roscoe and wife Deborah of Sanford, Dr. Don Roscoe, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Bear Creek, Randy Roscoe and wife Cheryl of San Jose, CA, Jeff Roscoe and wife Sandra of Pittsboro; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Andi Woodhouse officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Wesley Center of Jonesboro United Methodist Church.
