Doris Elizabeth (Stone) O'Quinn

Doris Elizabeth Stone O’Quinn, age 69, of Cameron, NC, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the FirstHealth Hospice House with her family by her side.

She was born in Hamlet, NC on June 20, 1950 to Garland Fred Stone and Miriam “Granny” Cole Stone.  Her father preceded her in death.  Doris loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful cook and housekeeper.  Animals, especially dogs, and tending to her flowers were some of her favorite pastimes.  She loved vacationing with her family at the beach.  She was a lifelong member of Haywood Independent Church in Moncure.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband James Neal O’Quinn; son Tony Toro of Tramway; daughters Carmen Toro of Cameron, Maria McGehee and husband Randall of Tramway; step-daughters Brandy McGehee Murchison and husband Marty of Sanford, Jamie Neil O’Quinn of Grays Creek, Katherine Dawn O’Quinn of Sanford; brothers William Cole “Billy” Stone and wife Marie of Rockingham, John David “Johnny” Stone and wife Donna of Sanford; sisters Peggy Jean Stone of Sanford, Brenda Sue Stone of Vass; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at Carmen’s home.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Wayne O’Quinn officiating.  Burial will follow at Cameron Town Cemetery.
