Donnie Ray Wallace

Donnie Ray Wallace, age 67, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Lee County, NC on April 25, 1951 to the late David Henry Wallace and Thelma Gautier Wallace.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Wallace and brother Ted Wallace.  Donnie worked at Simpson’s Car Wash and doing lawncare.  Most importantly, he never missed a morning, in 17 years, meeting friends at Bojangles.  He even scheduled his doctor’s appointments around his Bojangles.

He is survived by brothers Phillip Wallace and wife Jane of Sanford, Tommy Wallace of Sanford, Larry Wallace of Sanford, Jimmy Wallace and wife Mary of Sanford, Elton Wallace of Gastonia; sisters Naomi Cotten of Sanford, Vickie Hickman and husband Ronnie of Sanford, Patricia Wallace of Sanford; and sister-in-law Bettie Wallace of Goldston.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, Sept. 30th at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at Shallow Well Church cemetery.

The family wants to thank the Amedisys Hospice Team and all those who cared for Donnie at The Laurels of Chatham and Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
