David Lawrence Jones

David Lawrence Jones, age 87, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Alamance County, NC on July 24, 1932 to the late Jasper Jones and Mettie Flora Johnson Jones.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Morris and Byron Jones and sisters Lilly Mae Isley, Otelier J. McKenzie and grandson Ron Atkinson.  David served our country in the United States Army and was a member of Zion Christian Church.  He owned and operated David Jones-Deep River Insurance Agency for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Marie Riddle Jones; sons Gary David Jones and wife Vickie of Lexington, NC, Donnie Ray Jones and wife Sherry of Shallotte, NC; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Saturday, September 21st at 4:00 PM at Zion Christian Church with Rev. Steve Johnson, Rev. Lacy Frye and sons Rev. Gary Jones and Rev. Donnie Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
