Correan Gunter McNeill, age 82, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

She was born in Lee County, NC on September 2, 1935 to the late Fred Roe Gunter and Ida Neile Thomas Gunter.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Harrison McNeill, Jr.; siblings JD Gunter, Juanita Thomas, Marie Adams, Lillie Peele; and granddaughter Chelsie McNeill.  Mrs. McNeill was a graduate of Boone Trail High School where she played basketball and owned and operated Correan’s Beauty Shop. She was a charter member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and was very active with the Senior Saints of the church and volunteered in the food pantry of the church.  Correan loved to fish, cook and together with her late husband shared the food out of their garden with many folks.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and she just loved to be on the go.

She is survived by her son Chris McNeill and wife Cindy of Cameron; daughter Shannon McNeill Tyner and husband James of Carthage; grandchildren Amy Brusso and husband Greg of Aberdeen, Christian McNeill of Southern Pines, Aaron, Hannah and Abbie Grace Tyner all of Carthage and Riley McNeill of Cameron.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at other times at Mrs. McNeill’s home, 1160 Atkins Road, Cameron.  The funeral service will be Friday, November 10th at 11:00 AM at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Scott Yow officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery beside her late husband.
