Charles Edwin Johnson

Charles Edwin Johnson, age 85, of Sanford, NC, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

He was born in Lee County, NC on January 6, 1934 to the late Toy Carroll Johnson and Ethel Watson Johnson.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Barbara Ann and Andy Chriscoe. Charles was larger than life and his infectious humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was Partner of Carolina Wholesale Florist along with Clyde Garner, J.D. Weathington, Jo Anne Kirkman and Hubert Wicker.

He is survived by his wife Genelle Godfrey Johnson; daughter Leigh Ann Johnson Byrd and husband Mike of Blowing Rock, NC; son Edwin Johnson and wife Michelle of Sanford; grandchildren Caleb and Cassidy Johnson and Blake and Brooke Byrd.  The late Elton Cameron was like a brother to he and his wife Genelle. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00 PM.
