Catherine Ann (Morris) Spivey

Catherine Spivey, age 79, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 6, 2018 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Lee County, NC on October 7, 1938 to the late Clarence Wade Morris and Pauline Newell Morris.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 59 years, William F. Spivey “Billy” and brothers “Skippy” and Ronald Morris. She worked 28 years as a Registered Nurse at Central Carolina Hospital.  She excelled in everything – working on the family farm, teaching Sunday School, serving others, event planning, teaching her family to be strong, respecting others and to be independent.  Her smile could light up a room.

She is survived by her son William F. Spivey Jr., “Frankie” and wife Edie; daughter Catherine Denise Spivey Johnson and husband Travis all of Sanford; sister Brenda Fromer and husband Ken of Greensburg, IN. Her grandchildren knew her as “MeMe”; Brandon Jacob Spivey, Amber Spivey West, Jordan Tyler Spivey, Chesley William Johnson and one great-granddaughter Harper Rhian West.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the family home.  Catherine’s funeral will be Thursday, August 9th at 2:00 PM at Barbecue Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Sherrod officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was known by many and loved by all - Always having a generous heart. Catherine chose to “Live” Eternally!
