Carl Felton Ray

Carl Felton Ray, age 78, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

He was born in Fayetteville, NC on September 2, 1939 to the late Neill Duncan Ray and Minnie Mae Strickland Ray.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Ray Pickard.  Mr. Ray was a faithful member of the First Apostolic Church in Sanford and was retired, after 21 years of service, in the United States Army.  He also retired from GKN.  He lived-to-ride his motorcycles but mostly loved his family, church and country.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Darling Ray; sons Frank Westfall and wife Debbie of Sanford, Donald Westfall and wife Jenefer Lyn of Utah, Darrell Westfall and wife Paula of Fayetteville, Carl Ray Jr. of Cameron; Shelia Davis of Cameron who is like a daughter; sisters Barbara Ray Garner of Cameron, Rebecca Yvonne Biggins and husband John of Goldsboro, Glenda Fay Ray of Sanford, Debbie Ray Smith and husband Terry of Vass and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Apostolic Church with the service following at 2:00 PM with Pastor George Akers officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church cemetery with military honors.
