Brenda Joyce (Wofford) Craig

Brenda Joyce Wofford Craig, age 62, of Sanford, NC, went home to be with the Lord after losing her eleven-year battle with N.A.S.H and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Wofford and Mr. and Mrs. Alvis Hall; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wofford and by a son, Daniel Craig.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Danny Wayne Craig of Sanford; one daughter, Joyce Marie Craig Herring and partner, Eddie of Carthage; one granddaughter, Hailey Herring of Carthage; grandson, Jason Herring of Carthage and by one great-granddaughter, Reagan Herring of Sanford.  She is also survived by her three sisters, Beverly Yanhoose of Ohio, Debra Smith and Carol Valdez both of Sanford; four uncles and aunts, Ralph and Doreen Wofford of Sanford, Max and Patsy Wofford of Greensboro, Fred and Christen Thomas of Sanford, Jack Stone of Supply and Faye Wofford of Sanford; by several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She took care of her severely mentally handicapped son until he went home to be with the Lord at age 22.  Before her health began to fail, she loved to fish and help work in the family garden.  She has helped pull, shuck and put up many ears of corn.  Some of the best in the county.  There were many good times to be had working around the tobacco barn as a child and again as an adult for the Bullard and Pilon families.  She was saved and baptized under the ministry of Rev. Clay Farrell.  She has been a lifelong member of Grace Chapel.  We are glad she is without pain and in peace now.  She will be greatly missed.  We would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the hospice nurses and all those at Sanford Health and Rehab that took such wonderful care of our sister in her last days here on this earth. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 4:30 PM at Grace Chapel with Rev. Joel Murr and Rev. Robert Yandle officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service (3:30 pm to 4:30 pm) at Grace Chapel and at other times at the home of her sister, Debra Smith.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
