Billy Ray Black, age 85, of Sanford, NC passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lee County, on Aug. 29, 1932, to the late Clarence Black and Lillian Cole Black.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Webster and Brenda Gunter.  Billy proudly served his country in the US Army and was retired from the Department of Transportation in the Highway Maintenance Division.

Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Blanche Jordan Black of the home; two daughters Diane Kivett and husband Pastor Donald and Wendy Lamm and husband Lee; two sisters, Dot Richardson of Sanford and Elaine Cooper of Wilson; four grandchildren, Halee Lamm, Abby Lamm, Crystal Weichelt and Travis, and Melissa Cox and Bryan; seven great grandchildren, Bryson Ludwiq, Callie Ludwiq, Michaela Weichelt, Savannah Weichelt, Jaxson Weichelt, Caleb Perkins, and Maxton Cox.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 from 6 to 7:30PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27^th, 3:30PM at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Martin and Rev. Tim Burris officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
