Verna Frances Branch Stone, age 70, of Sanford, NC, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at her home.

She was born in Lee County, NC on September 24, 1945 to Charles Joseph Branch and Mildred Louise Hart Branch.  Her father preceded her in death.  In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband Bernice Lee Stone, Jr.  Mrs. Stone attended Sanford Business College and was a member of Cumnock Baptist Church.  She drove a school bus for 30 plus years for the Lee County School system.

She is survived by her mother Mildred Louise Hart Branch; sons Lee Stone and wife Faye, Greg Stone and wife Leslie; daughter Melissa Stone Buchanan and husband Sam; brothers Charles “Buddy” Branch and wife Ann, Bobby Branch and wife Wanda; sisters Diane Stone and husband Phil, Esther Smith and husband Tommy; and three grandchildren Scott Buchanan, Hailey Stone and Maddie Buchanan.  All the family lives in Sanford.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral home and the funeral will be Friday, April 22nd at 3:00 PM at Cumnock Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Yandle officiating.  Burial will follow at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church cemetery.
