Thomas Davis Ratliff, age 82, of Sanford, NC, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Richmond County, NC on February 14, 1934 to the late Carson N. Ratliff and Rosa Davis Ratliff.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Seawell Ratliff; son Thomas Davis Ratliff, Jr. and brother Carson Ratliff, Jr.  Mr. Ratliff was a graduate of North Carolina State University and worked in the electrical engineering field many years before teaching at Central Carolina Community College in the electronics’ program.  He retired from CCCC after 20 years of service.

Mr. Ratliff is survived by his wife Mary Burriss Ratliff; daughter Rebecca Lynn Ratliff; adopted daughter Michelle Merrill both of Fayetteville; step-sons Rev. Greg Burriss and wife Vicky of Siler City, Rev. Tim Burriss and wife Kay of Sanford; brother James Ratliff and wife Marleen of Phoenix, Arizona; grandson Carson DelGreco of Los Angeles, CA; and step-grandchildren Bethany Burriss, Daniel Burriss, Joel Burriss and Lindsay Barringer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Martin, Rev. Greg Burriss and Rev. Tim Burriss officiating.  Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery, at Eastside Drive at intersection with Fayetteville Rd (Hwy US-1), Rockingham, NC, at 3:30 PM.
