Mr. Rudolph Copeland Mullis, Sr., age 87, of Sanford, N.C., died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Sanford Health and Rehab in Sanford.

Mr. Mullis was born in Lee County, N.C. on October 18, 1926, to the late Henry Bunyon Mullis and Annie Pearl Godfrey Mullis. He was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the V.F.W. He was a retired manager of the Kendale Branch of Dossenbach's Furniture in the Jonesboro area of Sanford.

He is survived by his wife, Oberia Suggs Mullis; two sons, William Reginald "Reggie" Mullis and wife Susan of Seattle, Washington and Rudolph C. "Rusty" Mullis, Jr. of Siler City, N.C. and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.
