Roy Edward Smith, 81, of Supply, N.C. and formerly of Sanford, N.C. died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015.

Mr. Smith was born in Hamblen County, Tenn., on July 21, 1934, and was the son of the late Charles and Martha McKinney Smith. He was owner and operator of Lee Tire & Supply in  Sanford for 42 years. He was a member of the Sanford Lions Club for numerous years and served on the board of directors for the Sanford Housing Authority and also the Lee-Harnett Mental Health/Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Center. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Smith.

Roy is survived by his wife, Nancy S. Smith; three children, Martha Cagle of Sanford, Gordon Smith of Sanford and Jeffrey Smith of Cleveland, Tenn.; brother, Robert Smith of Morristown, Tenn.; sister, Pearl Moore of Morristown, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Flat Springs Baptist Church, 4148 Deep River Road, Sanford, N.C. 27330 with Dr. Gary McCollough and the Rev. Donald Burns and the Rev. Tyler Daniels officiating.
