Robert Porter Lankford, age 72, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Lee County, NC on November 15, 1944 to the late Porter Lankford and Julia Ann Tucker Lankford.  Robert was a self-employed brick mason.

He is survived by his wife Jodi Locklear Lankford; son Robert Lankford, Jr. “Robby” and wife Carol B. of Sanford; daughters June C. Simmons and husband Jason of Newport, NC, Mary Ann Cox and husband James W. of Sanford; brothers Ned Lankford of Sanford, Steve Lankford of Carthage; sister Judy Cole of Carthage; and seven grandchildren Jessica Lankford, Katy Lankford, Lorelai Sweat, Jason Simmons, Jr., Shane Simmons, Evelyn Cox and Anna Cox.

All services will be private.
