Prentice R Jackson, age 88, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Sanford.

Mr. Jackson was born in Harnett County, NC on March 10, 1927 to the late Hobert Ralph Jackson and Leota Hunt Jackson.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Newcomb Jackson and brother Hobert Ruffin Jackson.  Prentice graduated in the 1943 Class of Deep River High School and was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church.  He also served our country in the United States Army during World War II.  He retired from the United States Postal Service as a Postal Carrier and loved reading, crossword puzzle books and his grandchildren.

He is survived by children Dennis C. Jackson and wife Karen of Winston-Salem, Ellen J. Spivey and husband Tom, Prentice R. “Mickey” Jackson, Jr., and wife Renee, Teresa J. Haigler and husband Harry and David A. Jackson and wife Pam all of Sanford; grandchildren Jarrod Jackson, Bethany Jackson, Alethea Jackson, Crystal Cabrera, Scott Vogler, Prentice Jackson, III “P.J.”, Jeremy Jackson, Amber Sparling, Tiffany Estes, Jennifer Jackson, Ashleigh Stone, Christopher Carroll, Patrick Carroll, Christy Johnston, Robin Spivey, Brian Haigler, Shanna Bailey, Rebecca Maddox, and Ashley Davis and thirty-one great-grandchildren; and sister Catherine Jackson Stone of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral service will be Friday, January 29th at 2:00 PM at Flat Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
