Pattie Lou Ladd Gaster, 85, passed peacefully at her home on Monday, July 10, 2017, following an extended illness.  

She was born on July 25, 1931 to the late Clarence E. and Gertrude Ladd of Durham NC.  

Pat was a fine Christian lady who could always find something positive in every situation.   She was a 1950 graduate of Louisburg College where she met her husband of 65 years, Ernest Preston Gaster, Jr.   She was employed for 40 years with Lee Moore Oil Company where she retired as Vice President of Finance.  After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends, working with flowers in her yard and being with her family.   She was an active member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church for many years, serving on the Finance Committee and singing in the choir.   She was also a charter member of the Jonesboro Canasta Club.   

Surviving are her husband Ernest Gaster, of the home: son Scott Gaster (Vickie) of Oshkosh, WI; son Preston Gaster (Susan) of Sanford; daughter Linda Wicker (Pressley) of Sanford; sister Betty Nifong of Durham NC; brother Eddie Ladd (Ann) of Potomac Falls, VA.   She is also survived by six grandchildren, Elliot Gaster (Dana), Jordan Gaster (Julie), Will Harris (Rebecca), Anja Wicker, David Gaster and Brooks Gaster, along with four great-grandchildren, Adalynn Gaster, Avrynn Gaster, Grayson Gaster and Ivey Kate Harris.  

Special thanks go to longtime nurse, Peggy Davis and all the private nurses who have lovely cared for her the past year.   Memorials can be made to Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church or Community Care and Hospice.  

A celebration of life service will be conducted at Thursday July 13, 2017 at 7pm at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church, 316 Main Street Sanford, NC.   Family will receive visitors at a reception immediately following the service at McDowell Hall, located at the church.   Burial will be performed in a private service at Shallow Well Cemetery.
