Nancy Smith Underwood, age 83, of Sanford, NC, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. 

She was born in Richmond County, NC on January 11, 1932 to the late Edgar Hoyle Smith and Julia Haigler Smith.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Afton Underwood.

She is survived by a son Ronald Underwood and wife Pam; brothers Hoyle Smith and wife Treva, Rodney Smith and wife Beverly; sister Cordie Graham and husband Quinton; and two grandchildren Daniel Underwood and wife Yan and Emily Underwood.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sanford Chapel and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. John Gordon and Mr. Daniel Underwood officiating.  Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in the Taylor Memorial Baptist Church cemetery, 4164 Hoffman Road, Jackson Springs, NC 27281.
