Loyd Gary Lyons, age 79, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home in the Deep River Community.

He was born in Nicholas Co., West Virginia, on Feb. 12, 1937, to the late Loyd William Lyons and Hannah Rider Lyons.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Ann Maddox Lyons and a son Lloyd Gary Lyons Jr.  Mr. Lyons worked as a self-employed Home Builders for several years.  He was a loving father, avid Duke Fan, member of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church, member of the Army National Guard Unit and a member of Sanford American Legion Post #382.

He is survived by his son Burtis Lynn Lyons and wife Dawn of Huntersville; a daughter, Wendy Lee Snow and husband Kenneth Lynn, II of McLean, VA; brothers Roger Lyons and wife Paige of Sanford and Danny Lyons and wife Linda of Cherokee; sisters, JoAnna Lyons Bright of Sanford, Judy Lyons Asbill of Sanford, and Joy Lyons Telle of Sanford; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sat., May 28, 2016, from 6 to 7:30PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held Sun., May 29th, 1PM at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Taylor officiating.  Interment will follow at Lee Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N.
