Leona Jane Batchelor Cox, age 86, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Nash County, NC on September 5, 1929 to the late William Thomas Batchelor and Lena Jane Morgan Batchelor.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Cox; son-in-law Mike Ward; and siblings Cleo Brannan, Herman Batchelor, Ocie Batchelor and Nick Batchelor.  Mrs. Cox owned Curtis Carpet Center for many years and worked at Trion until her retirement.  She loved to craft.

She is survived by a daughter Menessia C. Ward of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral service will follow in the Chapel of the funeral home at 3:00 PM with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating.  Burial will follow at Shallow Well Cemetery.
