Joyce Autry Nicholson, age 86, of Sanford, NC died Sat., May 7, 2016, at her daughter’s home.

A native of Lee County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Allie Fleet Autry and Maggie Clark Autry.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Hugh T. Nicholson.  Mrs. Nicholson was retired from the Lee County School System as a Teacher’s Assistant at Greenwood School and was a member of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served as an Elder.  She was active in the Women of the Church- receiving the Honorary Lifetime Membership.

She is survived by daughter Sarah Elizabeth Nicholson Jones and husband Ronnie of Sanford; sister Dolores A. Dollar of South Hill, VA; and grandson Samuel Jones and wife Amanda of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the church with Rev. John Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
