James Calvin “Jimmy” Matthews, age 75, of Lemon Springs, NC, was taken by his Savior on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Lee County, NC on September 21, 1942 to the late Joseph M. Matthews and Mattie Yow Matthews. Jimmy graduated from Greenwood High School and was co-owner and operator of Carolina Aquatech Pools.  He was an active member of Lemons Springs Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and Trustee. 

He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Lynda Stone Matthews; daughters Kimberly Matthews and husband Gene of Sanford, Wendy M. Cotten and husband Ken of Lemon Springs; siblings Thomas J. Matthews and wife Anne of Lemon Springs, Betty Jo Cole and husband Robert of Lemon Springs, William R. Matthews and wife Gayle of Lemon Springs, John Barry Matthews and wife Deborah of Sanford; grandchildren Melissa Deal of Wilmington, Nikki Bennett of Hurlburt Field, FL, Fahren Cotten of Lemon Springs and great-grandchild Jaylei Deal of Wilmington.

Family and close friends will have a graveside service to be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lemon Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Johnny Marshall “Rocky” Stone officiating.  There will be no formal visitation.
