Gilbert Wayne Holder, age 78, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Harnett County, NC on July 9, 1938 to the late James Hurley Holder and Agnes Smith Holder.  In addition to his parents Wayne was preceded in death by a brother Harold Holder and nephew Jimmy Gaines.  Wayne worked for Lee County Government as a maintenance technician.

He is survived by a son Donnie Wayne Holder of Sanford; daughter Betty Elaine Woody and husband Stanley of Moncure; sisters Dottie Saunders and husband Pete of Sanford and Audrey Gaines and husband Lynn “Fat” all of Sanford.

A graveside service will be held at Turner’s Chapel Church cemetery Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Gary McCollough and Mr. Aaron Gaines (nephew) presiding.
