Gerald Wayne George, age 72, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Lee County, NC on June 21, 1945 to the late John C. Wells and Ruth Hobson Wells.  Gerald “aka Eyeball” was a truck driver for 50 years and loved his trucking buddies.  Gerald was well known for his great sense of humor and was comical.  His greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Perkinson George; son Kenneth W. George and wife Elva of Sanford; Angie Wood and husband Chris of Sanford; sisters Linda Thomas and husband Ronnie of Broadway, Janice Johnson of Georgia; grandchildren Lindsay Kennedy, Bailey Wood Layton and husband Grant, Chloe Wood, Taylor George and wife Leanne all of Sanford, Heidi Kennedy and fiancé Kyle of Woodbridge, VA; great-grandchildren Jackson, Bryson and Brenlyn all of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 2nd at 11:00 AM at Buffalo Cemetery with son Kenneth George presiding.
