Doris Lee Thomas Spivey, age 87, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Lee County, NC on December 9, 1929 to the late Dewey Thomas and Linda O’Quinn Thomas. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Jancie Spivey Floyd; three brothers, Larry, John and Waylon Thomas and a sister, Louise Collins.  Doris was a waitress for Hackney’s Restaurant for many years and also worked at Ames Department Store and then Walmart as a greeter for 12 years.  She enjoyed working with her plants and flowers, cross-stitching and writing poems. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Ronnie Spivey and wife, Christine of New Port, NC:  daughter Pamela Hutchins and husband, Donnie of Sanford; grandchildren, Aaron Stewart and wife Terri, Alyson Estridge and husband Chad, Hailey Spivey and Tanner Spivey and by four great-grandchildren, Grady and Parker Estridge and Tatum and Gunnar Stewart.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral Home.
