Donna Renea Thompson, age 43 of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

She was born in Lee County on November 27, 1973 to Carlton Leroy Thompson and Donna Sue Waddell Kennedy.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bailey and Susie Waddell and by her paternal grandparents, Newton and Eliza Thompson. Renea worked at Caterpillar for many years.

Renea is survived by her father and stepmother, Carlton L. and Linda Thompson of Sanford; mother and stepfather, Donna W. and Tony Kennedy of Sanford; one brother, Andrew Thompson of Sanford; one step-brother, Brian Smith and his wife, Kristie of Pittsboro; her sister, Brandy Thompson of Sanford and a niece, Regan Thompson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service with be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Wayside Presbyterian Church with Rev. Betty Sherrod officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
