Davie Lee Phillips, age 89, of Fayetteville, NC, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born in Walnut Hill, Florida on July 10, 1926 to the late Dovie Phillips and Lillie Williams Phillips.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his late wife Bessie Irene McArthur Phillips; siblings Clarence Phillips, Willard Phillips, Emma Lee Reynolds and Merlene Sowell.  Mr. Phillips was retired – after 23 years of service- with the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by three sons Rondell Phillips and wife Barbara of Sanford, Roger Phillips and wife Linda of Surf Side Beach, SC, David Phillips and wife Terrie of Bremond, Texas; two daughters Wanda Phillips Roberts and husband Larry of Sanford, Lavanta Ikner of Sanford; brother Lindy Phillips and wife Marie of Florida; sisters Amajean Soloman and husband Tommy and Ethel Wilcox and husband Wendell all of Florida; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Robbie O’Quinn officiating.  Military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the gravesite.
