Brenda Kay Blackwell Beck, age 66 of Broadway, NC, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Robeson County, NC on March 4, 1951 to Charles Donaldson and Dorothy Blackwell Harrison.  Her father precedes her in death.  Brenda was a member of Eastside Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a teacher’s assistant in both Robeson and Lee Counties.  She taught at Broadway Elementary School until her retirement.

Brenda is survived by her husband Fred LaRue Beck; sons Bradley LaRue Beck and wife Charlotte Tilley Beck of Sanford, Michael Beck and wife Katie Spivey Beck of Fuquay-Varina; brother Dennis Bundy and wife Linda of Lumberton; sisters Janice Marie Gardner and husband Earl of Parkton, NC, Debbie Ann Hedgepath of Shallotte, NC; sister-in-law Teresa Beck Smith and husband Gunner Smith of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Austin Beck, Carter Beck, Rhys Beck, Larkin Beck, Phoebe Jewell Beck, Asher Baron Beck and Emmie Caroline Beck.

She is also survived by ladies who are like her daughters; Kathy Epley, Elaine Patterson, Tracy McKee and husband David all of Sanford.  Marlene Hinson of Starr, NC was like a sister to Brenda and her precious aunt Shirley Warren and husband Luck of St. Pauls, NC also survive Brenda.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Eastside Pentecostal Holiness church and at other times at the family home in Broadway. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Ernest Hinson officiating.  Burial will follow at Broadway Town cemetery.
