Billy Blue Gunter, age 85, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, July 27, 2015, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Gunter was born in Lee County, on Nov. 6, 1929, to the late June Alton Gunter and Annie Gilmore Gunter.  He was retired as a maintenance and machine worker.  He was preceded in death by his son Donnie Blue Gunter and several brothers and sisters.  Billy was a veteran in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Gonella Gunter of the home; three sons, Joseph Gunter and wife Angelika of Aberdeen, Bobby Gunter of Mamers and Terry Gunter of Sanford; a daughter, Diane Gunter Spivey and husband Russell of Sanford; a sister, Annie Maddox of Sanford; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 3PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Cameron presiding.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at a later date.
