Mrs. Betty Lou Rogers, age 83, of Southern Pines, N.C., died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Penick Village in Southern Pines, N.C. 

She was born in Harnett County, N.C. to the late Hurley Nathan Thomas and Jessie Holloway Thomas.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Rudolph Rogers; a son, Herman “Skip” Stewart, Jr.; brothers, Chalmers Holloway Thomas, William Claude Thomas, Sr., and Roy Martin Thomas, Sr,; and by a sister, Nancy Thomas Cameron.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by a son, Michael Thomas Stewart and wife, Susan of Angier, N.C.; a daughter, Cheryl Stewart Futrell and husband, Richard, of Vass. N.C.; a brother, Branton Thomas of Broadway, N.C.; a sister, Phyllis Thomas of Raleigh, N.C., six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She was a self-employed caterer.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 2, 2016, from 11:00 to 12:30 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at Broadway Town Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Scott Yow officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Rogers may be made to Penick Village, 500 E. Rhode Island Avenue, Southern Pines, N.C..  28387
