Betty Cotten Campbell Hurley, age 83, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, October 30, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Harnett County, NC on March 7, 1932 to the late John Allen Cotten and Mary Edna Harrington Cotten.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Walter David Campbell; brother Robert Allen Cotten and two grandsons David and Daniel Campbell.

Betty graduated from Deep River High School and was a lifelong member of Flat Springs Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees.  She was a member of the adult choir, Sunday School office secretary, Hospitality Committee, House & Ground, Flower and Decorating Committee and was a member of the Joy/Ora Bridges Sunday School class.  In years past Betty was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Northview Fire Department and served as a board member, driver and coordinator of Highway to Healing.

She is survived by her husband Bobby Lynn Hurley; son Ronnie Campbell and wife Daria; daughters Regina Mangum and husband Bob, Mary Lou Gregory and husband Bobby all of Sanford; step-children Lynn Hurley and wife Debbie, Crete Smith and husband Ronnie all of Sanford, Emily Wright and husband David of Mooresville, NC; brothers Bill Cotten and wife Shirley, Sam Cotten and wife Irene, Steve Cotten and wife Emma; and sister JoAnn Thomas all of Sanford.  Surviving grandchildren are Ronald Campbell and wife Erin, Justin Covert and wife Amanda, Kensi Ward and husband Justin, Kalyn Mangum, Brad Gregory and wife Jessica and Brent Gregory and wife Alicia; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Sunday November 1, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Flat Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the family home, 289 Cotten Road, Sanford, NC 27330.
