Ray Alton Hall, 87, of Sanford, N.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at PEAK Resources Pinelake in Carthage, N.C.
He was born in Lee County on July 10, 1922, to the late George Alton Hall and Mary Edna Hall. Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a home builder and built many homes in the Lee, Harnett, and Moore County area. He was also a hunter, gun collector, loved his simple farm and country living, loved his dog “Rush” and was a member of Sanford Church of God.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Pearl Ballenger Hall; a daughter, Darley Rae Hall; two grandchildren, Kellie Rae Hall and Tammy Renee Hall and by a brother, Coley Hall.
Surviving relatives are a son, Edwin Dale Hall and wife Linda of Sanford; five daughters, Marie Gail Baker and husband George, Linda Lee Lankford, Delores Elaine Womack and husband Jimmy, Karen Pearl Hall and Jamie Hall Reid and husband Robert all of Sanford; three brothers, Jack Hall and wife Juanita, Ralph Hall and wife Margie and Roy Hall and wife Dot all of Sanford; one sister, Madie White of Cleveland, Tennessee, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2009 from 2-4 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, December 28th, 11:00 AM at the Sanford Church of God with Pastor David Kimbrell presiding. Burial will follow in Lemon Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome but memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
